How it all started...
Our church’s story began in 1866, when a small group of faithful believers gathered in the young town of Mound City as the First Congregational Church. From the very beginning, the church existed to worship God, support one another, and serve the growing community around them.
As Mound City changed over the years, the church continued to listen for where God was leading. In 1928, it became known as a Community Church, reflecting a heart for serving the whole town. That spirit of unity deepened in 1945, when the congregation became the Mound City Federated Church, welcoming Christians from different Protestant traditions to worship and minister together.
Today, as the Mound City Christian Church, we continue that same story of faith, unity, and love for our community. We are a bible believing church that seeks to follow Jesus Christ, love our neighbors, and share the gospel.

MAKING ROOM FOR GOD TO MOVE
As our church family continued to grow, we began to sense that God was inviting us to take a step of faith. Our quaint church became crowded—not just in our seats, but in our classrooms, and ministry opportunities.
Building a new church home was never about having a bigger or better building. It was about making room—room for worship, room for children and youth to learn and grow, room for relationships to form, and room for our community to encounter the love of Christ. We now have a space that allows us to serve more effectively, gather more comfortably, and welcome people more intentionally.

Come be part of our story
God is growing our church family, and deepening our walk individual walks with Him. We now offer two Sunday morning services: a traditional service at 9:00 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11:00 a.m., with a short time for fellowship in between. Our reach extends beyond Mound City—many members come from surrounding communities, and we welcome online attenders as part of our church family. Throughout the week, we provide opportunities for all ages to grow in faith: Wednesday night Bible study with a shared meal and nursery, Sunday night Adventure Jam for kids, FM Youth Group for students 6th–12th grade, women’s Bible study (in person and online), small groups that meet in individual homes and a grief counseling group meeting twice a month. We are grateful for how God is working through our church and look forward to continuing to serve, grow, and worship together in Linn County.
